GAB #25 - Rock n' Roll!

Happy Saturday!!

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend! Today is a very special yet difficult day for my family. My grandmother, Joanne, passed away 2 years ago (08/28) after a 2 year battle against Ovarian Cancer.

Today marks her 70th Birthday.

She was a very special person in my life and I'll never forget everything she was and did! She was such a kind and strong woman.

So... I made my card for the GAB Technique Challenge - Rock n' Roll, in honor of my Grandmother!

Come join us at Gimme a Break Challenges this week! We'd love to see what you come up with!

Caiden's 2!

Caiden turned 2 on June 6th!!

I can't believe he's already 2! Or maybe it's the fact that I'm a mother to a 2 year old? LOL

We held his birthday party at a park near us, don't ask what we were thinking having a party at a park in Phoenix's 100 degree weather in mid June... because we weren't!

No... it actually wasn't too bad since we did it in the evening. Everyone had a really good time and Caiden had a smile on his face 99.9% of the time!

We spent Saturday afternoon filling 400 water ballons, and my parents filled 225 (thanks Mom, Dad & Caitlyn!). I knew they would go fast... but I didn't think they'd go through 625 water balloons in 10 minutes! In addition to the water balloons we had pizza delivered to the park and had cupcakes (that's where the Lightning McQueen and Mater came from). The kids enjoyed playing on the playground with their party favors (sand bucket, shovel, beach ball, squirt gun & sand molds) once all the eating was out of the way.

Caiden had TONS of fun opening all his gifts too! He lucked out this year! He got a few new movies, puzzles, books, cars, a Mr. Potato Head, his own texting toy (VTech Text n' Go), a Cars couch that folds out for him to sleep on and a whole new wardrobe! I think there was more, but that's all I can remember off the top of my head...

ANYWAYS... I am hoping to have pictures developed soon and I'll be sharing more of the party over the next month or so... I'm a little slow with scrapbooking... I LOVE it, but I'm much more focused on my card making... LOL

Thanks for listening to me ramble! Here's the page finally!

Double Embossing

Today's post brings a technique I've just recently tried out!

The technique is called double embossing. If you'd like to give it a try yourself, scroll down for directions!

Stamps: Occasional Quotes
Ink: StazOn Black, VersaMark
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Very Vanilla, Love Letter DP
Accessories: Glimmer Brads, Vintage Wallpaper EF, Black EP,
3/8" Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon, 1/8" Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon

Double Embossing

  • Ink rubber brayer with VersaMark ink.
  • Cover one side of your EF with VersaMark. (The raised portion of what's covered is what you will emboss with powder. Also, works best with BOLD embossing folders.)
  • Put your paper into embossing folder and emboss.
  • Remove and pour embossing powder over paper, dump excess and emboss!

Happy Mother's Day!! - PPA92

Happy Mother's Day to all of you fantabulous mother's out there!!!

This post is going to be short and sweet because we've got to go get ready to head to my Mom's today! = )

I woke up this morning and had to make a card to get my stamping fix for the day... SO I looked around and decided to make a card for the Pals Paper Arts color challenge! I have fallen in LOVE with the In Colors the more and more I've used them so I was SUPER excited to see the color combo!

Here's what I came up with... my sister is turning 15 next Friday! SCARY!!! The older she gets the older I get... I can't believe she is a Freshman in high school and only a year away from being able to drive... That's when all the madness begins!

I know the picture is kind of hard to tell... BUT there is Dazzling Diamonds on each pair of flip flops and I watercolored them with my handy dandy blender pens and ink pads! I also popped the flip flops up of the card with dimensionals. I'll be back later with more details! Thanks for stopping by!!

Sentimental Sundays - Anything Goes

Sentimental Sundays is celebrating one year!!! Amazing how fast time goes! The challenge this week is Anything Goes so I decided to make a Birthday card to celebrate! Take a moment and go see the wonderful samples the DT has created and celebrate!

Tess is one of my new favorite stamps! I thought she'd be just perfect holding a cupcake in her hand so I stamped and colored a tiny cupcake from the Short & Sweet and made it pop with a dimensional. I added a Marina Mist grossgrain knot and finished it off with the "Happy Birthday (Call me when it's time for cake.)" sentiment from the Afterthoughts hostess set.

Happy 1st Birthday Sentimental Sundays!!

Stamps: Tote-ally Tess, Short & Sweet, Afterthoughts
Ink: Basic Black, Regal Rose, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, So Saffron,
       Cherry Cobbler, Blush Blossom
Paper: Whisper White, Certainly Celery

Birthday Fun!

I'm doing a Birthday Class this evening and thought I'd share a card I made recently. This isn't one of the class cards, as I don't want to spoil the class for my stampers BUT I don't think they'll be disappointed with the cards they'll be making! I'll share those with you all tomorrow!

Happy New Year!!

Hello Everyone!

Hope you all had a very Happy New Year celebration! It's 12:44 here in AZ right now... I rang in the New Year with my two boys (they were and are asleep of course!) as my boyfriend took an extra shift this evening...

I just want to take a moment to share a few of my New Years "goals" with everyone...

1. Lose 20 pounds.. (baby weight)
2. Make and post AT LEAST one card a day
3. Take part in more challenges! I follow TONS of them but hardly do them...
4. Make the GAB Challenges site a success! We are set to start our challenges on Feb. 5th. If you like to play along in challenges please follow us! We would LOVE for you to play along!
5. Find a part time job.. I love being a SAHM but it's nice to have a little extra spending money. My hobby is getting EXPENSIVE! LOL

SO.. Here I am working on two of my goals already! (So much for the first one! LOL) I've been sitting here playing around with some more challenges... I've made this card with the ColorQ 65 challenge and the Sweet Shop 89 sketch challenge. This one actually proved to be a challenge for me as I went to gather my supplies I realized I was out of Basic Grey CS! I was sooo disappointed but I made do without it by stamping with grey instead. And the sketch wasn't exactly easy to me either! I LOVE the layout it just took me a while to figure out how I wanted it!

Enjoy!

Stamps: Afterthoughts, Bold Blossom
Ink: Basic Gray
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Old Olive, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Victoria Lace Ribbon, Polka Dot EF, Dimensionals, Large Pearl

Happy Birthday to Me!!

Todays the day! I'm officially 24!

I'm so lucky! I get to spend the day with my boys! And my weekend with my amazing boyfriend cause the boys are off to visit their grandparents! Yay! 2 whole days baby free! I'm so excited for this break! I'm definitely going to miss them! Being a SAHM is the most rewarding job in the world and a true blessing! I wouldn't trade it for all the money in the world! Every now and then it's nice to have a break though! = )

Oh! Before I forget again... The other day I made a comment about how I actually remembered my age... So earlier this year I was at a get together with my uncles family and his sister and I were talking. I hadn't seen her since I was about 13 or so. In the midst of our conversation about how crazy it was that she felt like it was just yesterday that I was a child and now here I was a mother to a 10 month old she asked how old I was... I seriously just stood there are froze. I COULDN'T FOR THE LIFE OF ME REMEMBER MY AGE! Talk about embarrassing! After a minute or so I said 22 then I spit out 24 because I did the math in my head but then I remembered I hadn't had my birthday yet so then I yelled out 23! FINALLY I had my age right! It was so sad but so funny at the same time! I couldn't believe I had to stop and think about it as long as I did let alone think about it period! I think that's what kids do to you!

Good times! Good times!

So back to todays birthday share, I thought I'd put some butterflys in the air! hehe! I actually made this card last week but I absolutely LOVE it and wanted it to be my birthday post so I delayed posting it! It's pretty simple and easy but it's one of my favorites!

Birthday Squared

Welcome back for you guessed it! Another birthday card in celebration of my birthday week! Yay!

This was actually created for a sketch swap on a yahoo group I belong to. I posted a Christmas version a week or so ago and decided I needed a birthday one too because I like the sketch so much. At first I had a hard time deciding what paper to use but then I remember a post I saw the other day over at Anne Maries blog. She made a beautiful Christmas card with some DSP she had hoarded from last year so I decided to use up some old paper for this quick and simple card!

Thanks for inspiring me Anne! It's definitely time for me to stop being such a paper hoarder otherwise everything I have is going to be old and retired!

MM#2 Birthday Upgrade!

As promised, here is my birthday card for today! It's actually my card from the MM#2 sketch at GAB Challenges with an extra addition! I decided it simply needed a little more! It's so amazing how something so small can change the entire look of a card! I've posted the orginal first and the upgrade below!

Which one do you like best? Leave a comment telling me which one you like better and you may just be the lucky winner to a surprise blog candy!

MM#2 - GAB Challenges

Hey everyone!

It's another Manic Monday sketch challenge! Go check it out at GAB Challenges! Here's one of my creations for the challenge!

Birthday Bliss

Yay!!

That's right! It's my birthday week! I'll be 24 on Thursday! I actually remembered my age! Ha! I'll explain that one in a later post for those of you who are wondering...

Anyhow, in honor of my birthday I'm going to be posting at least one birthday card everyday this week! For some reason I find birthday cards to be challenging. I'm not sure why. I have tons of older SU! birthday sets but I'm not too crazy about many of the new ones... That may be my problem!

Anyhow here is my post for today! I'll try to get info up soon!

As always thank you for coming by and checking out my blog! Don't forget tomorrow is Manic Monday at GAB Challenges so be sure to stop by for a new sketch challenge!
